Power Shift Project: Power to the Interns
The Newseum Institute’s Power Shift Project — a major new initiative on behalf of women in the news industry — launches the first in a series of live interactive training sessions with a program focusing on the youngest and often most vulnerable in media.
“Power to the Interns: Strengthening Intern Preparation in a #MeToo World” will contain practical information about what educators and employers should know — and do — to ensure workplace integrity for students.
Jill Geisler, who is Loyola University Chicago’s Bill Plante Chair in Leadership and Media Integrity, will moderate three half-hour, interactive programs that will be live streamed and archived and made available for educators, employers and students to use.
Inya Baiye, Title IX coordinator for the University of North Texas, helped produce a video with the Mayborn School of Journalism that details what UNT is doing to give interns the resources to help them deal with issues related to sexual harassment in a professional setting. View the video below:
