Damian TorresDamian Torres, Director

Mr. Torres graduated from UNT with a degree in Emergency Administration and Planning. He also received an MEd in Higher Education from UNT’s College of Education. He has served as the Director of the Multicultural Center since 2016. Mr. Torres is involved with a great variety of projects for all branches of Equity & Diversity.



Lauren WhitemanLauren Whiteman, Student Services Coordinator

Lauren Whiteman graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Public Relations, and a master’s degree in Adult and Higher Education. She has served as the Student Services Coordinator Gender-based initiatives since 2017.

Lauren directs Men of Color Initiatives, covering programs such as the Men of Color Cohorts and A Few Good Men.

She also serves as an advisor to various student groups on campus.


Shabaz BrownShabaz Brown, Student Services Coordinator

Shabaz Brown joined the Multicultural Center in February 2018. Shabaz is a Mississippi native and received her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Science from Mississippi State University in Spring 2016. She went on to receive her Master of Science in Educational Psychology from the University of North Texas in Fall 2017. As a Student Services Coordinator at the Multicultural Center, she oversees the F.L.Y. Peer Mentoring Program and Black Student Experience Retreat (BSE).

Paige SennetPaige Sennet, Student Assistant

Hey there, my name is Paige Sennet and I am currently a senior studying Psychology and Criminal Justice at the University of North Texas. I have two fur-babies named Xena Marie and Henry Jamal. Under the Multicultural Center, I am involved in a program called Black Student Experience. I love working under the Multicultural Center because it is a fun environment that strives to make all students feel included and heard on this campus. In the future, my plan is to become a public defense attorney and my dream is to be a part of the Texas Supreme Court.



Susan RamirezSusan Ramirez, Student Assistant

I am a Junior majoring in International Business and Economics with a minor in Spanish. I am part of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated here at UNT. I love that the Multicultural Center has given me a greater opportunity to bring awareness of different cultures and cultivating an environment where all identities can feel equal. I enjoy working with different students that come from different communities and wish to share their experiences. Stop by the MC sometime and check out our events



Frank PolkFrank Polk, Student Assistant

My name is Frank J. Polk IV; I am an advertising major and graphic designer from Mesquite, TX. I enjoy interacting with students, staff and faculty and being involved in the activities of the Multicultural Center. As a graphic designer, it is fulfilling to see my work displayed across campus inviting students to be a part of the events presented by the MC.
