The Multicultural Center is proud to host the Buddy System Peer Mentoring Program! The Buddy System was created in order to connect incoming freshman and transfer students to the University of North Texas by matching them with experienced upperclassmen as their mentors.
Mentorship programs are proven to help students ease the transition into college life, build their social and leadership skills, and ensure a steadier path towards graduation. The Buddy System is an excellent way for any student to help fulfill their academic and campus life needs and interests! It builds community, promotes student involvement, and encourages positive progress in their academic, social, and personal achievements.
Buddy System Programs are focused on 6 key areas:
Some of our fun activities include game nights, community service projects, sporting events, study groups, and much more! We would love for you to participate with us!
Buddy System is open to all UNT Students:
Facilitators: Facilitators primarily help the Student Services Coordinator in the Multicultural Center plan, promote and facilitate events throughout the year. All facilitators must apply by the deadline and must attend the Facilitator Retreat. Being a facilitator is a year long commitment.
Mentors: Mentors will be responsible for maintaining communication with their Mentee families and connecting them to resources and services that are available at UNT and in the Denton Community. Being a mentor is a year long commitment.
Mentees: Mentees are incoming freshman or transfer students who are looking to be connected to the UNT Community. All mentees must apply for the program.
Our program is currently full but we will be accepting applications for Facilitators, Mentors and Mentees in the spring semester.
